DRIVING STRATEGIC TRANSFORMATION: KEY SUCCESS STORIES FROM OUR CONSULTING SERVICES

Industry: Third Party Logistics (3PL)

Business Challenge: A global logistics company in UK, sought a comprehensive, scalable, and integrated solution to replace its legacy WMS & TMS system, aiming to enhance operational efficiency and future-proof their IT landscape

Solution: Conducted a Fit-Gap analysis comparing industry-leading solutions: Blue Yonder, Infor WMS and a home-grown WMS & TMS solution. Recommended the best-fit solution based on product fitment, cost, and implementation flexibility

Business Results: The recommendation solution pivoted to a scalable and customizable platform that aligns well with the 3PL’s operational needs.

Industry: Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG)

Business Challenge: A leading south asian beverage manufacturer struggled with non-standard SKU codes for finished goods, semi-finished goods, raw materials, and packaging material. This lack of structured codification process created compliance issues and hindered coordination between departments, making product identification a major challenge.

Solution: We conducted a thorough analysis of the existing codification system, bill of materials and engaged stakeholders through workshops. A new codification logic was created, defining clear processes for SKU assignment. A phase-in and phase-out approach was implemented to ensure a smooth transition to the new coding standards.

Business Results: The new SKU coding system improved cross-departmental collaboration and compliance with standards. SKU nomenclature inefficiencies were recognized and enhanced master data management.

Industry: Pharma

Business Challenge: A global nutrition products manufacturer wanted to understand impact on warehouse capacity, operational processes, manpower and equipment due to a planned automation of secondary packaging line.

Solution: Studied manual packaging process and warehouse operations and conducted stakeholder workshops to understand business drivers for secondary packaging automation. Assessed current and future capacity of manual/automatic packaging lines with regard to expansion plans and volume projections. Performed impact assessment on warehouse operations & aligned logistics along various dimensions assuming existing inventory and productivity norms. Identified opportunities for efficiency improvement and  quantified potential cost savings

Business Results: Delivered operational projections for 5 years and recommended policies and best practices to optimize cost.

Industry: Telecom

Business Challenge: A leading telecom services provider was facing significant space management issues and operational inefficiencies in its primary warehouse.

Solution: Conducted an ‘as is’ study and maturity assessment of warehouse layout and operations. Proposed new and optimal layout / design and business process improvements to eliminate inefficiencies & redundancy in warehouse operations. Performed shadow costing for warehouse manning, operations & infrastructure basis proposed design and business processes. Proposed revised process flows for transport planning to leverage back-haul for returns & improve vehicle utilization

Business Results: Our recommendations (if implemented) would have delivered 20% to 30% savings

Industry: Hi-Tech

Business Challenge: A leading copier and printer manufacturer wanted to integrate their Oracle ERP with proprietary WMS of its partner (3PL) to outsource its warehouse and transport operations.

Solution: We defined a standardized process for 12 business transactions (PO, SO, ISO, RMA etc.) that has to be integrated bi-directionally between ERP and WMS real-time. This process standardization was done by studying each transaction, and how it is handled in both the systems (ERP & WMS), and defining a ‘to be’ business process flow for seamless exchange of data.

Business Results: This process standardization effort was used as the baseline to integrate the business transactions between On-Premise Oracle EBS & Cloud-based WMS using OIC as the integration layer.
